Icelandic design firm Preggioni has just released a new product that's really convenient for personal media players named Magneat.
The Magneat adjusts the wire to acceptable length, minimizes risk of tangling when in use and reliefs the ears of the weight and motion from the wires. It keeps the wires close to your body and reduces the risk of unwillingly hooking and pulling it out of your ears or personal media player.
It uses a magnetic fixation system with no risk of damaging your clothes and it has a minimal cool design that can be personalized. It's like a useful badge for your iPod/iPhone headphones.

Some time ago, Marc Esslinger published an amazing collection of pictures of Apple prototypes from the early 1980s including the very first telephone bearing the now defunct rainbow logo.

Marc Esslinger's father is no other than Hartmut Esslinger, fouder of successful design agency Frog Design and designer of the famous Apple IIc â Snow White â which was Apple's first portable computer in 1984.

It's interesting to see how advanced Apple design concepts were at the time, though technology didn't allow them to make those beautiful products come true. Laptop, tablet and wireless technologies are pretty resembling to the products that the Cupertino based company recently released.

Born in 1928 near Interlaken (Switzerland) Adrian Frutiger is one of the predominant figures in 20th century European design. His career has taken him to many countries, and his work has touched designers around the world, inspiring generations of newcomers since the 1950s. On May 24, he will be 80 years old.

Adrian Frutigerâs career path is legendary. During the late 1940s, while he was still a student in ZÃ¼rich, he created an extraordinary piece for his graduation project: a woodcut series of lettering styles illustrating the evolution of the Roman alphabet. After Charles Peignot at the Deberny & Peignot foundry in Paris received a copy of the prints, he quickly brought the young Adrian Frutiger to France.

Although he returned to Switzerland many years ago, Adrian Frutiger spent most of his professional career in Paris. For almost a decade, he was employed by Deberny & Peignot, until he set off on his own in 1961. Over the course of three decades, he designed numerous typefaces still used around the world today, including Avenir, Frutiger, Meridien, OCR B, Serifa, and Univers.

Food is ambiguous, it is good and bad at the same time, or rather: it is.

Food has to do with pleasure, disgust, disease, surplus, consumption, survival, energy, digestion, cyclical processes, cannibalism, decay, stench, body odour, obesity, superstition, religion, affluence, fertility. âWeâre just a digestive tractâ she says. That is not pessimistic, itâs just a simple fact.

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is made from oil, which comes from real old plants. PET is highly recyclable can be transformed again and again to un-imagined uses.
Miwa Koizumi uses a combination of heat guns, soldering irons and different cutting utensils to make these sea creatures called PETs. He wanted to work with glass but this is more fun. He has as much material as he wants just by fishing in the garbage.

The Pet Shop Boys have always been very interested in the artwork and design for their releases. They have been working with Mark Farrow , who designed the cover of their first Parlophone release in 1985.
Their record sleeves are quite often very minimal, and the attention to detail is obvious, down to the font type and style.
The collaboration between Mark Farrow and Pet Shop Boys is comparable to the designer-band relationship of Peter Saville and New Order or Neville Brody and Cabaret Voltaire.

Much of Siggi Eggertsson's illustrative work relies on geometry and symmetry, fusing curvilinear shapes into pixelated, cleverly impressionistic jigsaw puzzles.
Given that he often begins an illustration with a sketch on grid paper, and adds abstraction and color later, it's no surprise that he's a fan of Frank Stella and Chuck Close.
The burst of color sometimes result in glorious pop-art wallpaper, as they do in cellphone screens he created for Yakuta Mobile Visuals last year, and sometimes fuse into concrete images, as they did in his poster of the British band Zoot Woman for the Iceland Airwaves '05 music festival.
