Good, now that the sparkle-fashion-mania is almost over...
;)
Yeah, so true. I love it but it is the typography of the moment. In 20 years when we design a piece that we want to look like it was from 2005-07, we will do giant geometric type without counters.
Dont get me wrong though, I do love it for what it is and its always nice to witness trends and evolutions within design and typography.
The book "logo" at the beginning of the post is a great book bdw
Yeah I have nothing against trends. They're just a collective "feeling/look of the moment" or the zeitgeist after all.
Personally, I just don't like styles bastardized all the way to another galaxy.
Bad copying, that is (e.g. diagonal lines all over the place, sparkles, crests, you name it...) :)
Nice post by Armin. It is a trend right now, but if you think about how often you see this in everyday life, it's a minuscule example of a "typography trend". Most trends we see are really only trends to us- not to the rest of the non-design world. If a client wants something fresh and you use geo-type to accomplish that, who cares!
I agree touhey and this is just a minuscule thing of what I (we all) can do!
