Print can be stressful. Can't it?
I've been working on a print job for the past week or so. Nothing new there, I've worked in print for well over a decade now and in general it's always been a straight forward and enjoyable process for me. Well pretty much so.
One shall we say, odd aspect of print that has never left me though which has led me to question if its just me is the huge amount of anxiety I experience once the work has left my hands into the hands of the printers. I liken it to taking a vacation - you know you've put your passport somewhere safe and you've double checked (triple checked even) and yet there's always that nagging feeling that you've left it at home.
Or is that just me?
Anyway I'm digressing here, I strive to have a clear and transparent dialogue with the printer from the outset of the job and ensure all parties are working along the same lines. Midway through projects I'll share the creative with my printer for feedback and to ensure there are no surprises at production.
Yet still, I fear the worse. Our partners are always a trusted and professional company. So what's the deal? Is this just me? Let me know - I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
I should add, this is no ordinary print job. It's a 25 metre wide x 3.5 metre high graphic that's going to appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. No matter though, if it was a single sided A5 mailer I'd still be a nervous wreck.
I can't share the graphic with the world just yet and so for now, take a look at these detailed close ups and next week I'll share the results. Keep your fingers crossed and again, tell me about your projects and any fears you can't seem to shake off.
