Lack of participation(Internal News)
I'm not trying to complain but i just want to know why people are not participating here. There's one of the biggest design flow of the Web here and members are not adding their creative, constructive reviews (which I think that's what the poster wants).
What do you think? Should viewers be a little bit more active?

They might be busy producing fantastic work. :)
Its true though , i found the site not so long ago and it seems a little strange members are not involved a little more in these posts.
I don't think many people know about the "user feed"... they come to the site, write a blog entry, read the front page, maybe comment on that stuff, then move on.
I wish they'd do it similar to Newstoday.com, where you have the "official" news in one column, and the user news/blog entries in a second column.
You might be right. Maybe i would just like people to share a bit more, not their skills or abilities, but their thaughts and opinions
Atleast the quality of the work is consistent. Newstoday has alot of work posted not on par with the level of stuff on this site...
Maybe or maybe we are voyeuristic people ;)
It's very much inline with how Computerloveâ„¢ has always been since it first started in 2000. I remember the newsfeed comments were quite few on the old site, but the work and the design posts were so inspiring and refreshing, you couldn't get enough of it. I think it's true what you said, I think everyone is pretty much busy creating.
I would hate it to become anything like Newstoday; the two sites have their own differences and it should stay that way. Computer love, not Computer hate.
However, if the blog topics to discuss and comment on were worth discussing, that would be quite refreshing. I have no interest in participating in random/insider-jokes/give me that fucking font/vector maps type of conversations.
Neue DR was a great forum too by the way. Anyways, I guess the Computerlove format, of the blog post/comment system and less anonymity, in addition to the community itself, generally prohibit these types of random topics and promote creative and insightful posts.
On that note, remember the Live Room? That failed mainly because it became a spammer's haven - much like the PBS on Newstoday. Thank the design god's thats gone. If people used it correctly maybe it could have worked...
This is a very intersting conversation. And we all think here about this... As Gridnik says, it seems this place as always been quiet (regarding discussions) since the beginning (as we tried to push forums, chat or comments).
Another interesting point of view is that most of our users are a bit older than other design communities, so i guess since you work you have less time to discuss :)
And yes, also this place sounds more like an anonymous and professional area; than a young and personal networking site..
For sure, we want users to contribute/exchange more, without loosing the 'original' spirit. Anyway, this place is under a perpetual test, so maybe we will find some good solutions for more community interactions in the near future...
Ideas are welcome!
youre bringing a good point indeed. People are working... not enough time to say "hey, nice job, i really what your doing" or "i like, but i would maybe try to do it that way". Instead, they get their creativity tank filled up and good for some new concept.
Oh well, cpluv is still a great place to be!
