Publisher, press agent, producer and writer Roger Darnell is the principal of The Darnell Works Agency, a content development and publishing company and a prominent advertising, film and television industry Public Relations firm. After a very successful ten-year career as a freelance writer and production professional working on TV projects for NASCAR, NBC, Columbia TriStar Pictures, HBO and many others, he then extended his reputation for success as a marketing executive in Hollywood before joining high-tech LA PR firm The Terpin Group in 1999 as an account manager. There, working with the executives behind many emerging high-tech companies, he shaped vast strategic PR campaigns, resulting in tens of millions of positive media impressions, the raising of millions of dollars in venture capital and other impressive feats. Roger formed his own company in 2000 to develop and publish original content – and to provide results-oriented PR support to a short list of phenomenally talented companies in his choice of markets and industries. Among his many career highlights, he has written numerous feature film screenplays (as yet unpublished), won a Scripps-Howard Foundation Fellowship for Journalism, had his poetry published in prominent regional reviews, served as a distinguished, supervisory-level Training Systems Specialist, Non-Commissioned Officer and Photojournalist in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and earned two B.A. Communications degrees from the University of Central Florida, one in Film with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations, and a second in Radio and Television. Roger's bio has been included in Who's Who in America each year since 2000, which "profiles the country's most accomplished men and women leading us into a new era."

Shall we destroy cancer, starting now?
The American Cancer Society tells us that cancer ends the lives of 20,000 people across the world every single day, which amounts to more than 7.6 million individuals each year. In total, twelve million more human beings will be diagnosed with some form of cancer this year, and Americans will represent more than a million of them. Stand Up To Cancer is a groundbreaking movement backed by an innovative approach to cancer research aimed at ending cancer's reign as a leading cause of death. The best and brightest minds are on board and taking aim at prevention, detection, treatment and even reversal of this epidemic, and in America, on Friday, September 5, at 8pm Eastern and Pacific time, 7pm Central time, ABC, NBC and CBS will join together to broadcast the landmark "Stand Up To Cancer" event with the goal of raising money to fund cutting edge treatment and helping to eradicate this deadly disease once and for all.

Until then, you can visit the website at standup2cancer.org to learn about the people behind this initiative, to see where the moneys raised will go and why, and to make general donations to the organization -- or donate in honor of someone of your choosing. While I certainly hope it's not the case, it's not a stretch to imagine that the life you help to save through your participation with Stand Up To Cancer may truly be your own....
