Summer Olympics Candidate logos
You get Chicago (USA), Prague (Czech Republic), Tokyo (Japan), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Baku (Azerbaijan), Doha (Qatar) and Madrid (Spain). The question being of course... "which one is your favourite?"

The Madrid logo has some life in it, though I'd tweak the design slightly, I keep seeing the german/belgium flag jump out from the center. Praha looks fairly nice, though a little rushed and more like a concept rough, Chicago has somthing in it, slightly retro. But not really feeling the rest at all. Doha logo looks like the designer spent too long staring at his photoshop cs2 icon.
Some of the executions for Chicago are really stunning. Chicago Flickr Set
Do you have them in a larger size?
@ xande : take a look
Check my gallery to Lisbon 2016 or my blog. Better or not? Its my favorite :P
As requested, here are the logos in larger size.
I've placed the Prague, Doha and Baku logos in smaller size than the rest, because it turns out that they have been eliminated from the preselection committee. The standing candidate cities are Rio, Chicago, Madrid and Tokyo.
Still the question is, not just WHICH one you like, but also WHY?
I vote Tokyo
i am for the chicago logo
Tokyo & Praha
I prefer the Chicago one. It reflects the city iconography - 20/30's Art Deco and the chicago star reminds me of the Lindbergh Beacon on top of the Palmolive building - much more than the other ones, without resorting to the usual Olympic clichés of "togetherness" and "life". I guess I just like the break from the usual language (I made similar comments in relation to the London 2012 logo). Also, it'd the one that looks the less like it's an Illustrator file and it's go the best typography (even if it's a very "safe" choice).
Madrid logo all the way. Chicago second. Madrid logo has a lot of life in it, but then again, if these are the identities for the 'application' then I guess they could still change when it comes to the actual event, just as the London 2012 logo changed. (I still think the 2012 logo is brilliant and will be far more enduring than most - but the typography used alongside it, is DIABOLICAL!!)
You know what?
The Chicago logo is graphically speaking OK BUT I'm getting tired of the "star" idea whenever the US gets the summer Olympics (they've done that both in LA and Atlanta).
Personally I'd go for Madrid or Tokyo. I like the way they incorporate the Olympic colours. Mind you the Prague one does that too (if you count in the black being used in the typography)
The star in the Chicago logo comes from the Chicago city flag. Just and FYI. I mean at least it's not arbitrary. Chicago Flag
Chicago
Definitely Madrid. It goes in my eyes like one strong piece with personality and life. I also like Chicago but I think it's because I'm seduce by the very good executions.
I am doubting between Madrid and Tokyo.
Madrid
Chicago
Praha
in that order.
overcomplicated and banal logos. chicago torch logo is great, but not the star
Madrid? the middle finger red? lol and that type...yack
