About Chinese Artists Pan Dehai work

I want to focus on the subject of obesity.A common phenomenon in modern society and a product of modernisation, obesity is the most obvious embodiment of the problems of urban living. Obesity itself needs thinking about; it is even a somewhat mysterious condition.

People today may choose how they live. However, life is like a kind of cruel competition, damaging both mind and body. It seems that the longer people live, the more they are hurt. They have to suffer wounds all over their body in order to survive. Otherwise, it is not possible to grow to adulthood.

I depict obese people on the canvas in both an exaggerated and symbolic way. They look like each other, too, which introduces a humorous note. Repetition adds strength to the idea I want to express.

关于新文人画
新文人画并不像战后各种水墨画一般，它并非以绘画上的造型来确立风格，它是一种精神状态，一种意境，它们面对的不是历史与文化，也不是现实与社会，它们强调的是画家个人纤细的心境。不可否认，新文人画确有其新的地方，也就是在传统文人的自觉性上加了新文人的自溺，在笔墨的运用上显示出悟性和格调，在画面的意境上显出高雅和宁静，他们一致向往传统文人画中的永恒理想，即超越世间纷杂的内心宁静。
新文人所谓的禅意、境界本身也是一个陷阱，他们在面对生活时其实面对的不是生活，而是自己纤细的心境；由于感官过于敏锐，他们的平淡自在往往显得刻意，他们的禅意也难免落于另一种执着。
