driving economically..

We made another banner to tackle this issue of short distance driving and its contribution to carbon emmissions. It was placed in a key position, dropped down from a bridge above a road into leeds city centre. We plan to use this banner again in other relevant areas to create more awareness. Have a look..

WEBSITE!!

Finally.. our website is now up and running and (almost) fully functional! we are just making the final finishing touches to it, please visit us at www.wegiveafuck.co.uk

We also have an email address and would appreciate any comment or feedback that you have, you can contact us at wegiveaf_ck@hotmail.com

We look forward to hearing your thoughts :)

Parking ticket intervention

This one was a little bit naughty. Eco driving is a huge thing these days, but not enough is being done to promote it or actually get people to do it. We approached this issue by creating mock parking tickets with information inside about how a person can drive in a more environmentally friendly way, obviously no one got charged! Heres what they looked like.. enjoy.

school run intervention

A significantly damaging amount of fuel is wasted every year just dropping our kids off at school, and a lot of these journeys are totally unnecessary and could be easily avoided by letting children walk or bike to school, most kids would prefer to do this anyway! Heres what we decided to do..

heres another..

We created an intervention that took place in hyde park, but which didn't last too long due to a thief! If you're out there with our "wegiveafuck" stencil, we hope you're ashamed of yourself.. it did look mint though, we can see why you wanted it so bad!

The stencil hung from a large billboard in hyde park, simply and quite offensively stating the words "we give a fuck". We realize that the sign can't really be linked to our concerns for the environment or our website, or anything that the campaign is about really.. except for promoting our "name".. so basically we just used this experience to practice getting things up and seeing what effect they might have.

we learnt a couple of things on this first serious attempt, stay at the scene at all times if you don't want the intervention to be changed, take plenty of photos before something goes wrong and find a good place to hide out! Movin' on up..

unfortunately we are unable to show you a picture of this particular intervention due to this site's technical difficulties, you can however visit our "work in progress" website to view it.. www.wegiveafuck.co.uk

sorry its been a while!

Hey,
Its been a while, we've been out and about intervening on a much bigger scale! but were back now, and heres a few things we've achieved since our last post...

our first one was perhaps more of an experiment with flour as a medium, and perhaps it was a little offensive to be plastered all over leeds, take a look!

Operation spooning..

Why do people continually use those little wooden or plastic stirrers when there are metal spoons available, that can be washed and re-used millions of times!? remember this next time you go to pick up a lame stirrer..

Paper wastage

Hey! So weve done a handfull of small interventions.. here's the first one

Here, on the 2nd photo someone commented:
"Then somebody/all of us need to keep the sink tidy,
I'm not going to use a tea towel from this kitchen!"

and our reply is..
So keep it tidy then, everyone should do their bit. easy.

Developing our identity

Have a look at our second ideas wall..

We have been thinking about design ethics and our purpose so that we could produce an effective logo that is going to represent us effectively. These are a few bits of research and some of our designs. The logo/type we use will be widely spread across Leeds so we think it's really important to have something that gets across our message quickly and with impact.

What is wegiveafuck about?

This is our first ideas wall where we brainstormed what wegiveafuck should be about and what it will eventually achieve:

We want to make people question their recycling processes, whether they are efficient and could they be doing more for the environment? Wegiveafuck aims to increase the awareness around recycling and green living and promote it. Our message will be communicated through interventions across Leeds, small and large scale.. So keep your eyes open.
