THE PROTOMEN: THE WILL OF ONE

once again we've stepped up to the challenge of trying to realize the vivid-imaginings of those known as the protomen. this time we taped a live performance of theirs in brooklyn, new york. after smashing the resulting footage to pieces we arrived at this:
we hope you like it.

SWING STATE 08
"Swing State" redefines the phrase "behind the scenes." Where political
documentaries were once limited to bleak, coffee-stained campaign offices,
"Swing State" breaks down the final barrier, taking one giant leap into the
home of the candidate.
Focused primarily on the 2006 Ohio Governor's race, a contest widely
considered to have drastic implications for the outcome of the 2008
Presidential elections, "Swing State" tells the story of career politician
Lee Fisher, who, with family in tow, campaigns for Ohio Lieutenant Governor,
alongside Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate and U. S. Congressman Ted
Strickland.
The road to the White House in 2008 runs directly through the Ohio
Statehouse in 2006. The lives of all Ohioans - all Americans - will be
affected by this one election. And one family will show us the way.
Featuring interviews with Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack
Obama, John Edwards, John Kerry, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Chuck Schumer, Bill
Richardson and many more. Vote "Swing State" in '08, it's the obvious
choice.

Version Industries Art Director Interview

Caspar Newbolt, Art Director of Version Industries was recently interviewd by Wiselephant. The following is an excerpt:
"WE: How much control have you had over your professional career as a designer vs. it taking you with it?
CN: Another good one. Actually I think I’ve had quite a lot of control in one way & yet none in another way. We’ve certainly controlled the kind of work we’ve chosen to do & even turned down bigger jobs because it didn’t feel right or felt dishonest / fake / corporate. Which is ridiculous in a way because it’s not made it easier - in fact I think we’d all be a lot richer if we’d been less concerned about that.
But on the other hand, you can’t pretend you really control that stuff. So much of it is luck I think. We’ve met people in elevators who have given us work and we’ve got friends who put in a good word for us too. So yeah, it’s a bit of both. The only thing I make sure of is that we do the best job we can & that we never do the same job twice - I think this keeps us fresh, an interesting prospect in the eyes of others & also stops us hating our work. When you hate your work you stop doing it well … at least I do."

deadsy.tv

hey guys,
so here's a site we finished a few months back but thought we'd post up today for fear of getting accused of ripping off the splash page of today's FWA site of the day winner neave.tv :
neave.tv is of course a way more ambitious site & totally deserves the FWA award & we'd like to acknowledge it for everything it's achieved. however i'm sure you can all understand our position here.
we've spoken to paul neave about it & he says he never saw our site - which i'm sure is true as it's not exactly the most ground breaking or original of ideas. but yeah, we're just keen to get it out there & save our integrity a little before we get accused of using other people's ideas !

David Carson lays us out !

We have the great pleasure of announcing that in this quarter's issue of First Point Magazine there's an article on us. Furthermore David Carson was guest art director for the issue & designed our layout himself.
There is no honour greater as far as we're concerned & a great deal of thanks goes out to all those involved. Special thanks go out to editor Victoria Hainey & creative director Paul Chapman who took to our ideas & granted us the 6 page layout to accompany the short bio about us. This was our first feature in the printed press & to be granted such a beautiful layout & in such a magnificent magazine was more than we could have ever hoped for.
For those interested in taking a look, the magazine is available in borders (amongst others) in the UK & on amazon.com for those in the US. You can of course also check out the layout on our site here :
