Biography:

I am a 30 year old designer/artworker, currently living and working in London. I orginally studied art at university but soon decided that the design world better suited my creative outlook. Over the last seven years I have been pretty lucky career wise and I have worked for some leading companies in a range of industry sectors including healthcare, publishing and financial services. My experience so far is primarily print based but I always enjoy the opportunity to do more web work.
I have just started working for an independent agency in Putney called Meteorite as a Senior Creative Artworker. They have a great mix of clients and I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to work across a broad range of different media from press ads and billboards to point of sale and packaging. I've only just started but I like what I see so far, they have a good professional ethos without taking themselves too serously.
Before Meteorite I spent a year at Matthew Poppy Ogilvy, an agency specialising in pharmaceutical advertising and marketing. As part of the Ogilvy Healthworld network, Matthew Poppy Ogilvy was a leading agency in its field. Working primarily on advertising and brochures, I gained invaluable experience in a thriving, creative environment.
Before moving to London, I was an in-house graphic designer with BBC Audiobooks, a publishing subsidiary of the commercial arm of the BBC. I actively managed and designed a range of advertising and marketing projects from conception and planning through to print and production.
Prior to the BBC, I was employed as a Graphic Designer with SWAY plc, a financial services marketing, consulting and events company. I worked on a broad range of projects, from branding and corporate identities, marketing collaterals and direct mail through to press ads and set designs for events.

Chiropodist's sign

Saw this great sign on a drunken night out in Newquay, surprisingly witty for a town addicted to neon.

Paris Photos

Just got back from a surprise trip to Paris my girlfriend bought me for my 30th birthday - here are some random photos from the Pompidou Centre, the Louvre and the Catacombes.

Victim Support Concert Poster

A very early version of a poster design I'm working on for a forthcoming charity concert. I am usually allergic to script and black letter fonts so it's been quite therapeutic to use them heavily for once. I'll probably ditch them and go for Helvetica Neue by the time the design is finished but I'm liking it at the moment. It could be worse, I could be addicted to using Comic Sans I suppose...

User guide illustrations

Just added a new gallery of technical vector illustrations I've done for user guides recently. Not the most exciting work in the world but on the plus side I've learnt a lot more Illustrator shortcuts...

Number 22

A fantastically graffiti-strewn door in the Cheuca district of Madrid.

Too many daiquiris?

The joys of continous shooting on your camera when out drunk...

Lonely Chairs

A pair of lonely garden chairs looking all neglected and unloved...

Canary Wharf

This is an experimental piece of personal work in progress that I'm messing about with at the moment in quiet moments. It's based on a photo of Canary Wharf in London taken by my girlfriend, Liz Brown.
