Should we blame directly the clients ?

We often blame directly the client, for poor atitudes and decisions and we totally forget that most of the time the decision of the client, is a mix of ideas of a huge team, who thinks that does totally manage the concept and design of their own brand.

If you go to a doctor, and that same doctor tells you to take pills from X color, you dont argue with the doctor, saying that you know a lot about medicine and that you should take the pill Y, this doesnt happen, because you truly trust the doctor skills and your lack of knowledge about medicine, makes you take the pill X, because you think he knows the solution.

But that rarely happens in the Design world, most of the people that buys our Design allways have a word to say, and most of the times, they put their personal taste (that most of the time is shit!) and everyone just thinks that about Design the know a bit, so the argue most of the time without a reason, because they just think they have a little artist inside them, and if they really wanted they could paint Mona Lisa. They simply dont respect of profession, and they dont believe us has professionals.

Often in our Design Society we blame directly the client, but if we go to the bottom of the question we forget that he is extremly influenced by other people inside their own company, for example one of my best friend, he was invited to a HUGE company for their marketing department, this means he can influece or even take a decision in an important matter related to any Design Issue.

Ok without the company name, or is name (so i dont get in trouble) let me explain, he is without any doubt, the person I know with less visual education, is tastes are not the best in the world, about design he knows nothing, he is not sensitive to any kind of visual impulse, he is simply not the man for the job, but with is CV and is new executive suit, if he sits on a meeting table, he will have an opinion and he is in a position that can influence or even take a decision, that can simply ruin your genius design solution.

I ask my day everyday, why have 100 persons with ideas from 1990 based on a coca cola advertise they saw in 1984, that about visual comunication they dont know nothing, but they still wanna show work to their bosses and they will do their best to ruin every design proposal that comes inside the company (some of them simply genius!), why not change all this into 1 designer managing the company communication.

Mac vs Pc - who gives a shit ?

Well at home i use Pc and at work I use Mac, i love them both, because they carry the tools i use to create my artwork, actually my home pc is a Intel Dual Core 3.8Ghz, 4Gb of Ram, ATI 1900XTX 512mb, 500Gb of HD and a few more candy like double screen (LCD TFT 20"x2), simply the Mac G5 cant handle my Pc hardware configuration and i have spent half the money i would spent to get the latest G5 on the Market that wouldnt perform any better then my home pc.

I dont care about brands because they are cool or not, i dont care Matt Pyke from Universal Everything runs Mac at home and uses it to work, i use my computer to create and the feature im looking for is Performance and i dont reccon that Mac is better, if you buy a PC with the exactly hardware configuration of the latest MAC availble you will spend half the budget you would spent on buying a pc, this means the other rest of the money you pay for a Mac is to pay the Mac OSX...quite expensive.

For example the latest G5 costs about 3.000 euros, i have spent 1.500 on my actual PC, this means the MacOSX costs 1.500 euros but wait i think your not getting it all, have you ever opened a MAC G5 ? ok...your not getting at all, the latests Mac G5 use the exact same hardware that the PC use, the same RAM, the same Brands for Graphic Cards, the next Mac generation will work on Intel Cpu that the PC uses, this means they are EXACTLY the same but with different softwares and Operanting Systems but Mac is more expensive thats it.

Most of the Mac addicts say the Mac is not only the Hardware is the Operating System, for god sake is there any Operating System that worths 1.500 euros ? not really...the only thing i really love about Mac and that i have to agree is that it´s a beatifull piece, it´s cool and if you have one at your home it will look better and it´s more fashionable, but thats about it...because on the Mac i cant even play my favourite Online Game!

I hope to buy a Mac in the future but is just because it´s cool and it will look lovely on my desk side by side with my PC and my Sony Vaio Laptop.

CPLUV Shout

Well the day i stop shouting with critics at CPLuv it will mean everything is perfect or at least with the level of CL v.2, i have noticed some great updates that have been upgrading without any doubt the quality of the actual Computer Love, and i really expect that more updates will come with time.

Computerlove was knowned has the greatest bridge of all times beetween Online and Offline Design Works, the distance got so short beetween Print and Multimedia, most of the artists and designers doesnt mattered of they were connected to offline or online work, they showed their HIGH QUALITY work together in the same Spot, and this Spot was Computerlove, i think that was the reason why Computerlove got so high in the Design Community (cl v.2).

On CL v.2 The updates on the gallerys were almost Daily, new great works were online almost everyday it was a huge amount of HIGH QUALITY info/gallery released, new designers were crashing down at Computerlove and this community worked has a community and it was amazing how we all meet, everyday was a new name on the block, and everyday people would rate, comment and chat with other artists/designers from the other side of the globe, without forgetting the Featured artists almost every week or two, that was a very rewarding "prize" for spending so much time uploading gallerys at Computerlove.

The problem that i see now, is that the Gallerys were almost brought to a secondary place, the Golden Gallerys are updated once in 2 weeks, sometimes less sometimes more, in my humble opinion i dont come to Computerlove to read News/Blog i come to Computerlove to see new Artwork/Design because news sites and blogging there are so much sites that are allready doing that work and doing it well that i prefer keep on reading Newstoday.

There arent any Featured Artist besides the Random Popular Profiles, that is a random of some world wide names registered at Computerlove, their should be a Featured Artist with an Interview to the Artist/Designer and a nice Showcase of the Artist.

The Golden Gallerys have about 20 latest works and then they have directories, that are hard to look because they are in directories i cant imagina when we have 1000 golden gallerys it´s going to be insane and almost impossible to browse, without saying that all this gallerys are very HIGH QUALITY and are the result of the HARD LABOUR of the artists/designer and they need to be respected and not dumped on a secondary place that looks like a huge warehouse of directories.

I have browse the Users Gallery (not the Golden Gallery!) and i have found amazing works that have the high quality standard that i think CPLUV is looking for, i found amazing gallerys with amazing works that are simply forgotten and are not in the Gold Gallerys, and this in my opinion is an error, because people spent time to create a gallery (and if you have create one you know what i mean!) and if the gallery is an High Quality Gallery they expect their little reward of being featured at the Golden Gallery and if they are not, they will simply stop uploading, stop sharing, stop helping CPLUV to grow back to it´s levels...

And it´s all for now folks :)

Artist Designer Photographer Typographer Coder needed...

I have changed my job latelly i was managing a Design Company and i decided to quit, now im working has a Designer only, and between this big change in my life i found something that in my humble opinion is just amazing, have you ever spent some time to read the latest job annoucements ? Well i had the luck not to need to read and my company change was fast enough so i dint stop, but yesterday i took sometime to see some worldwide design job annoucements some of them here at CPLUV and i was amazed how the professional design scene is working this days, so i decided to write this post.

When i was searching i found that you cannot be a Designer this days, because when a hospital is looking for a doctor, they search for someone in specific with a speciality but when a Design company is looking for a Designer they are not only looking for a Designer but they are looking for a Artist Designer Photographer Typographer Coder.

Most of the designer job annoucements are a bit like this :

* Track record of producing finished work for print
* Track record of a producing finished work for multimedia/web
* Track record of a producing of a Motion work
* Track record of a 3d work and 3d film work
* A ultra pimp acrobat designer super dooper master at Freehand, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Fireworks, Paintbrush, Rita, 3D Studio Max, Maia, After Effects
* Exceptional eye for detail when making client changes and that can be a ninja with samurai skills that has an eye of a falcon
* Ability to understand and follow any kind of brand guidelines from exceptional stylish work to shit
* Very High Skilled Photographer and Artworker with given proof of at least 550 collaborations for exhibitions and 345 Book Collaborations
* Award winning of at least 284 prizes in Worldwide Design Events.
* High skilled coding in HTML, Flash, Ajax, Php, Asp, MySql, Oracle, C++, Vb and every other code language in planet earth
* If you know how to wash the bathroom and cook that would ge a GREAT advantage.

Minium wage lot´s of future in our super elite design company.

Those this sounds familiar to you, i bet it does, Designers are losing respect, and Design Companys are looking for Ninjas to work 24h/7d a week without a life and making the team less expensive because if they find someone that does everything they will not need to have 3 Designers (1 multimedia designer, 2 graphic designers, 3 Coders (2 flash developers, 1 Php, asp and database) they will get one slave for all the jobs...

In the other way i believe that it´s impossible to be good at everything at the same time, and if you try you will not succeed and you will lose yourself in the middle of so many disciplines, Designers and Artists tend to develop their style and skills at a certain discipline following a path that envolves different softwares and technics, and all this grows up with time and very hard work.

Dont understand me wrong i believe with time we can develop skills in different design disciplines but there are limits because we may be very sensitive persons but we are restricted by one thing...time.

Gallery Updated

I have finnaly uploaded a few works on the cpluv gallery, re-starting my collaborations with Computer Love to share my work with all you guys, i hope you enjoy and leave a comment.

The following works are now active : Puma, Karacter Models, Musabook, Palm Tshirts and Holemug.

CpLove Issues & updates

Well i have been wondering around the site here at CpLove and i have noticed a few thing, that are not working at all, beginning in the homepage, you can see the last 4 or 5 popular galleries, but you dont have a button to browse all the latest TOP Gallerys, this simply means you can only check those 4 or 5 and i bet there is a bunch of new HIGH Quality Gallerys passing by and no one is watching.

Another problem is related to the structure of the Gallerys, they are not working properly, because before you could read all about the project side by side with the photos and now the text about the gallery is hidden in the commentary zone, it took me ages to get there and it simply doesnt work.

I hope in a very very very near future they can work out this issues so Computerlove will be back with the quality of the version 1, that was lost, because i still miss v.1 that was awesome and it worked very well.

Ahhh and by the way dont kill that lovely domain www.computerlove.net is twices cooler then the new cpluv.com .

Sounds weird

After some weeks browsing Computerlove, i dont think this layout is the solution for cpluv i prefer the old one much more, this blog stuff makes it look like a friends network like Hi5 or Orkut, before the site looked more professional and the layouts were just amazing, full of details.

Computer Love is back!

Hello, today i waked up and found that computerlove is back, i used to love computerlove since in my idea computer love was the major vehicle for offline artwork and print. Today i have registered and hope they do backups from their servers and i question myself about the format since in my opinion i dont like it so much i prefered the oldschool, flash, big map, newstoday rss feed style...but let´s see! Good Luck cpluv and please dont lose all our work again...
