55DSL & BD4D
Thursday evening was the 55DSL & BD4D Winners Presentation on Carnarby St. I was pretty impressed with the work shown but also disapointed my good friend Alex from One Huge Eye only came 4th, in my opinion his piece deserved top spot but hey ho...
Was also good to catch up with Mr. Muller, the Ryans & Rob - Hopefully this summer there will be more get togethers with old friends.

New Stuff
Another crazy couple of weeeks have gone by and to my liking the temperature is getting slowly warmer as the days get much longer. Ive just finished 2 weeks working on a couple of promos for MTV. The promos were for the Overdive channel and were a lot of fun to do. Hoping to bosh these onto Dstrukt & CL in the next couple of weeks.
Aside from MTV Im about to kick into a fairly big tutorial for Computer Arts magazine whilst also doing roughly a months motion graphics for car company Rolls Royce. Gonna be an exciting 30 days!
Finger crossed I might see some of you guys at OFFF next month too...

Camping

Got back this evening from a weekend of camping in Norfolk with some very close friends of mine. An Amazing weekend that consisted of lots of Cider, Sausages and beautiful scenery... very much looking forward to bed though after 3 night of roughing it in a field.

Thank You
Thanks to everyone for their support on the Dstrukt launch, the feedback has been immense. A special thanks to Rob for his words of wisdom and his Mangos. Hopefully by the end of the month ill be able to add a couple of new motion pieces that are in the pipeline plus a complete showreel. Again thanks to you all.

Spring
This morning felt like Spring had finally kicked in, aside from it being overcast in the afternoon the morning was fairly sunny and there wasnt any need to wear a jacket when walking to the shops. This Winter feels like its been going on forever, honestly can't wait for Summertime.

Memories

Last summer was without a doubt the best Ive ever had. Aside from spending allot of it travelling around Italy I got together with a good friend of mine Mr James Cambourne to work on a number of photography projects (all still to be released). James moved to Dubai just before Autumn and whilst walking to the studio this morning I was thinking how much I miss the old fella and the laughs we had.
Hopefully this April James will be back in the country and we'll get chance to rattle out a few more shoots.

Frog Pocket - Gongolot

I first listened to Gongolot after Rob put me on to him just after Christmas and since then I dont think a day has passed when I havnt queued up the album. Heres a decent review from Boomkat:
As well as being home to the best ice-cream shop in Britain (the now sadly closed Carlton Café), Ayr can also boast John Charles Wilson (aka Frog Pocket) amongst their exports. Having released a solid EP on Benbecula in 2003, 'Gonglot' marks his debut LP for Planet Mu and sees Wilson furthering galvanising the 'homespun instrumentation meets white-hot digitalis' sound that characterised his previous missives. Comparable to the recent output of Sublight's The Flashbulb, 'Gonglot' opens with the shambling musicbox melodies of 'Follow Erol Raet' before garoting the feathery ambience with a cheese-wire of truly epic electronica/IDM on 'Carac Cyls'. This theme of soft and hard continues throughout, with Wilson matching each bout of solipsism ('Plinty'), with a set of precision beats ('Celebrimbor') that draws it all into focus, adding an abrasive texture to the compositions that compliment the moving soundscapes perfectly. Very nice indeed.
Carac Cyls is also quite possible one of the best pieces of IDM i've heard in a very long time. If you like it dark & crunchy you have to check this out.
