Biography:

My name is Dave Soderberg, I am from Denver Colorado and currently design full time for Beatport (beatport.com) as well as freelance under my company: Astrel Creative. I work mostly on interactive design in my free time and interface / interactive for my career. Nothing drives me more than design, the process of creating, and the struggle to constantly be inspired. I am a designer who loves to view, encourage and be inspired by other people's work and creativity. I see design as a constant challenge to communicate something / anything to anyone, whether you're communicating a message or trying to create an interface that is not only beautiful to look at but intuitive to even the most recreational user. Read my blog to see what I've been creating, inspired by or thinking about.

Iron Man Main Titles

People got mad at me for posting about Iron Man last year... said it was so "corporate" and all about war... blah blah blah. Can't we all at least agree that these closing titles by the incredible Danny Yount are insanely cool? Check it out .

Oh and by the way, the movie was awesome. And so is Starbucks, Apple and Bands that sell out.

My Portfolio ( Coming February )

Well it's just a splashpage, but I am finally going to be updating my portfolio. For now peep the splash over at Astrel Creative .

Cool Hunting - Lori Nix

Cool Hunting did this video back in July, so you may have already seen it. Lori Nix was just included as one of Cool Hunting's 'Top Five Photographers of 2007'. Really nice work!

Royale - Flaunt 9th Anniversary DVD

Royale seems like they're gunna put out some ridiculous work. This first spot is for the 9th Anniversary DVD from Flaunt Magazine.

"We had the amazing opportunity to provide Flaunt magazine with a 3 minute experimental short that co-branded Flaunt along side their sponsor Diesel..."

I have a bunch of old designs for shirts from when I used to think making screened shirts could be profitable. Put up my first design on this really clean / nice site. VOTE FOR ME

Adobe's 3D Camera Technology

Adobe talks about potential of a new lens that has 19 lenses at slightly different angles. Talking about how it can take the Healing Brush in Photoshop to all new levels and make it a Focus Brush. Would allow you to take photos in Photoshop and actually change the angle of the camera and the point of focus, giving anal designers everywhere even more to get picky about. Check out the video

Automatic Image Resizing

An all new way of automatically resizing images that uses 'seams' in a photo or image with the least amount of energy. This is pretty incredible, I could definitely see it used on the web... print might still require getting in there by hand though. wow

PS: Mind blowing video production quality : )

Renaissance

Am I the only one that had never heard of or seen a trailer for this film? I just saw it is number 1 in the iTunes Store, must have missed its theatrical release.

Sprinkles Cupcakes

I visited a Sprinkles Cupcakes store over the weekend. I couldn't decide what I liked more the cupcakes or the interior / package design.

Yet Another Great Zune-Arts Ad

Text courtesy of: Motionographer

- As a product, the Zune is probably doomed. But as an image campaign, the Zune-Arts films have showcased some amazing talent. The latest specimen is this spot directed by Ryan Dunn ( vitamin ) -
