Beautiful Losers(Internal News)

Beautiful Losers celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural movements of a generation. In the early 1990's a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the "establishment" art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture. Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories...speaking to themes of what happens when the outside becomes "in" as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today's youth.

Mixed Music Medium(Internal News)

Making a mixed tape for someone you fancied was my generations version of writing poetry or a love letter. Not only did we focus on selecting just the right tracks to include and try to time it to the second, we also focused hours of creative energy in illustrating the mix tape cover with heart felt doodles and clever visual references. When the burnable CD took over the scene, the mixed tape as a way of expressing oneself to another lost a little of its charm. Now with everything going digital, all of the charm has been lost to cyberspace, until now. The “Mix Tape USB Stick” by SUCK UK brings all the fun and charm back to a time honored tradition that really should be on everyone’s gift giving list. Show someone you really care about them and make them a mixed tape.

Dan Bergeron Documents The Residents Of Regent Park(Internal News)

We've been fans of Toronto based Fauxreel for quite some time. This latest project is one of our favorites.
As part of Toronto's Luminato Festival Dan Bergeron is shooting portraits of residents of Toronto's oldest social housing project, Regent Park .

Dan tells us:
"The buildings of Regent Park are in the process of being torn down and rebuilt, so the idea is supposed to make the residents literally become part of the physical landscape, challenge some of the pre-conceived notions that other Torontoian's have of these people and stoke the discussion surrounding the displacement of some of regent park's residents as they are kicked out of their homes for this re-build...
