"As part of their winning pitch for all London 2012 branding, we were commissioned by Wolff Olins to bring the 2012 Olympics to life, releasing the energy contained within the logo. Designed and directed by Matt Pyke, CGI by Peppermelon, sound by Freefarm."

Universal Everything grabs the polemic 2012 Logotype. The result was quite impressive. Give it a check!

The CG Sphere Project

"The sphere is arguably one of the most basic and fundamental primitives in computer graphics. Its uniformly curved structure allows for wide field of view coverage, as well as full diffuse tonal range shading. When reflective, its convex shape can reveal more of it’s surrounding environment than any other primitive, and when refractive it can bend surrounding light into a single concentrated caustic point. The sphere is an inherent form chaotically evident in nature and continually apparent in man-made designs. From the smallest atomic structures to the largest planetary globes, the sphere continues to be perhaps the most common geometric form in existence. "

So, let's see what you can do using this sphere scene with your favorite 3D program, if you are not a 3D artist always is amazing to see what they can make. Above some of my favorites, there are a whole bunch of good ones!

Nike Plus

As a follow up to the success of the series of winter themed animations in 2006 Nando Costa and Nervo's Team in collaboration with the creative team of Nike (MannyB) has created this new spot used to promote Nike Plus, the product developed by a Nike and Apple collaboration.

As an additional note, the music track also was made at Nervo by Darrin Wiener, Nervo's Music Director.

Vineyard

Really sweet commercial delightfully directed by Olivier Gondry, yes that's right, Michele Gondry's brother. Piece created for the Beringer Wine brand by Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco. Not sure how much was a digital visual effects and how much a stop motion with paper, maybe a combination of both, anyway is a GREAT animated piece!
